Spending New Year’s Eve in Djanet is a unique experience in the heart of the Algerian desert. The trip usually includes the exploration of the Tassili n’Ajjer National Park, a UNESCO site famous for its millennial rock carvings and spectacular rock formations.

Itinerary

Day 1: Algiers – Djanet
Direct flight from Algiers at 22:30, arriving in Djanet at 00:45. Warm welcome by our Tuareg team dressed in their traditional attire, followed by a transfer to the hotel for your first night in the heart of the Sahara Desert.

Day 2: Tadrart – Tinarassou – Tissetika
Departure by 4×4 towards the majestic Tadrart region, renowned for its landscapes. Discover the fascinating rock paintings of Tanaot, ancient testimonies of prehistoric civilizations. Lunch in the heart of the desert at Tinarassou, then set up camp at Tissetika under an exceptionally clear sky.

Day 3: Moulenagua
Exploration of rock engravings and paintings human and animal life from several millennia ago. Lunch at the foot of the rock formation known as the Cathedral. Overnight camping in the heart of the golden dunes of Moulenagua, cradled by the silence of the Sahara.

Day 4: Tin Merzougua
Crossing magnificent landscapes of sand and rock by 4×4. Lunch break at Bouhadianne, then continue towards the immense dunes of Tin Merzougua, where the bivouac offers a breathtaking view of the endless horizon.

Day 5: Oued Injaran – Imaharhatan – Tiska
Cross the Oued Injaran, a true desert valley surrounded by wind-sculpted landscapes. Lunch at Imaharhatan, followed by a bivouac at Tiska in a unique mineral setting.

Day 6: Erg Admer – Iharan Dunes
Visit the famous rock engravings of the “Crying Cow”, then cross Erg Admer, a sea of dunes with ever-changing shades. Overnight stay in the Iharan dunes, the perfect spot to admire the sunset.

Day 7: Tikoubaouine
Departure for Tikoubaouine to admire its extraordinary rock formations and contrasting landscapes. Lunch near the natural arch, followed by an afternoon walk, then overnight camping at Tiouaitaterene to enjoy a spectacular sunset.

Day 8: Essendilene
Explore the Essendilene oasis with its majestic canyons and lush palm grove. Enjoy lunch in the shade, followed by a visit to the rock paintings of Aitelouatan. Spend the night camping under the stars for a complete desert immersion.

Day 9: Emalaolaouan Plateau – Djanet
Return to Djanet with a walk on the Emalaolaouan plateau, which offers panoramic views of the palm grove. Hotel check-in for a well-deserved shower, lunch at the guide’s guesthouse, and a visit to the gardens, the historic centre, and the souk. Dinner at the guesthouse and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10:
Night departure, flight from Djanet layover in Algiers at 4:30 AM, followed by the return flight.
