Northern Algeria is a region rich in natural diversity, with Mediterranean coasts, lush mountains, and fertile valleys. It is the cultural and historical heart of the country, with Roman, Arabic, and Ottoman influences and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Casbah of Algiers and Djemila. The stops on this journey are: Algiers – Boussaâda – Constantine – Djemila – Bejaia – Ait Yanni – Tipaza – Cherchell

Itinerary

Day 1: Italy – Algiers

  • Arrival at the airport.
  • Customs clearance
  • Departure for the hotel in Algiers.
  • Dinner

Day 2: Algiers

  • Breakfast, then departure for a walk to the Grande Poste, an imposing white post office building constructed in 1910 in Neo-Moorish style.
  • Visit to BASTION 23, known as THE PALACE OF THE RAÏS, which brings together all the architecture of the Ottoman period.
  • Finally, a guided tour of the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa built in 1855; it was the first church to have welcomed a black nun.
  • Overnight stay in Algiers.
  • Dinner

Day 3 – 4: Algiers – Boussaâda

  • Departure for Boussaâda.
  • Visit to the city, famous for its desert landscapes and its cultural heritage.
  • Departure by 4×4 towards the dunes to contemplate the sunset.
  • Exploration of the Nasreddine Dinet Museum, dedicated to the French painter born in 1861. After his first visit to Algeria in 1884, he was so captivated by the culture that he decided to convert to Islam and live in the small oasis of Boussaâda.
  • Visit to the cultural and commercial center to discover local craftsmanship.
  • Visit small villages and meet the locals
  • Overnight stay in Boussaâda.
  • Traditional and folkloric dinner

Day 5 – 6: Boussaâda – Constantine

  • Departure for Constantine, Ancient CIRTA capital of NUMIDIA
  • Visit of the suspension bridges perched on a rocky outcrop
  • Visit of the Moschea Emir Abdelkader, the second-largest mosque in Algeria.
  • Explore the Cirta Museum, which houses findings from the Numidian-Roman era, passing through the El Bey Palace from the Ottoman era.
  • Visit to the TIDDIS archaeological site, famous for its ceramics, located 30km from Constantine.
  • Overnight stay in Constantine.
  • Dinner

Day 7: Constantine – Djemila

  • Departure for Djemila.
  • Visit to the CUICUL archaeological site of Djemila, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its baptistery, its arch of Caracalla and its thermal baths
  • Visit to the museum
  • Departure for Bejaia
  • Overnight stay in Djemila
  • Dinner

Day 8: Djemila – Bejaia

  • Explore Cap Carbon and the Gouraya National Park where nature meets the sea.
  • Walk along the port of Bejaia
  • Visit to the Kefrida waterfalls
  • Visit to the AOKAS Caves, discovered in 1962 by an Italian-French construction company
  • Excursion in the surroundings to admire the natural landscapes on the heights of Monkey Peak
  • Overnight stay in Bejaia.
  • Dinner

Day 9: Bejaia – Ait Yanni

  • Departure for Ait Yanni, in the heart of Kabylie.
  • Visit to traditional villages and discovery of local craftsmanship.
  • Overnight stay in Ait Yanni.
  • Day dedicated to the discovery of the culture and traditions of Kabylie.
  • Excursions in the surroundings and visit to the small villages with their ancient and traditional architecture.
  • Overnight stay in Ait Yanni.
  • Traditional and folkloric dinner

Day 10: Ait Yanni – Tipaza

  • Visit to the Casbah of Algiers, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a fortified citadel inhabited by the fishermen of Algiers.
  • Departure for Tipaza 70 km from the capital
  • Visit to the archaeological site of Tipaza, UNESCO heritage site.
  • Continuation to Cherchell.
  • Visit to the Archaeological Museum of Cherchell.
  • Return to Algiers and overnight stay in hotel
  • Dinner

Day 11: Algiers – Italy

  • Breakfast, transfer to the airport and return flight to Italy
